Mission Statements or Passion Statements? How to create a mission that no one can ignore.

Your mission statement: Do you have one for your business creation? Did you think hard about what you wanted to do? Did you analyse all the objectives? Did you work it well?

I have coached many therapists, coaches, change-makers and leaders. Many have shown me their mission statement and to be honest, most often they feel a little uninspiring.

Because they just don't make me care.

Not because I don't have a heart, but because they themselves didn't care - enough. Their mission isn't actually making them excited about being alive.

Because a mission isn't a page filling exercise. To drive anything anywhere it needs to be a burning passion, so deeply connected to your heart and your values system that you can't be knocked off centre, even when the going gets tough. Especially when the going gets tough.

A passionate mission makes you bang down doors and knock over fixed objects to make it happen. It calls from the heart and refuses to let go. People can't help but say yes because they feel your passion burning so deeply - but you have to connect to it yourself first, or they definitely won't.

And you do want people to care, don't you?

And I'm guessing you want to care too.

But if you don't inspire yourself, who else is going to? If you can't get yourself out of bed with your passion for your creation, why should anyone else?

Meditate on it, feel what wants to be expressed through your particular body, let your intuition run wild and only then let your mind understand it. You'll know when you get to it because tears will well up, your heart will expand, you will want to stand on the mountaintop and shout it to the world. You may feel a little (or a lot) scared even, but you'll definitely feel more alive and you'll know that your mission, your passion, will support you through the ups and downs, it will provide the light to guide you and the fire in your soul to get there.

Gift yourself and the world with your passionate mission and enjoy the ride. The world needs what you are here to create. Let it become fully realised.
